Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports for Transportation Providers


This presentation is appropriate for all general and special education, Pre-K through 12th grade transportation providers, education staff, and administrators.


Short Description:

Participants will learn the functions behind behavior and ways to incorporate Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports on the bus. We will also cover disabilities and how those disabilities might affect behavior on the bus.

Long Description

Participants will learn ten precepts that govern behavior and what these precepts have to do with behavior on the bus. We will also cover the development of 3-5 behavioral expectations, matrices of what those behaviors look like, sound like, and feel like when implemented and also ways to teach the replacement behavior through video modeling.

Dr. Riffel will also cover relationship building techniques and the importance of building those relationships with the students.

Finally, Dr. Riffel will cover specific disabilities and how these disabilities might manifest in behaviors on the bus.


This course is for Four Hours of Credit. Typically, we present from 10-2 for Transportation Security Specialists so they can run their morning and afternoon routes. Most school districts bring in lunch and we have a quick lunch and continue after a short recess.
