The Surgeon General (Dec. 2022) reported a 50% increase in anxiety and depression in the 3–17-year-old population. We were already in an upswing of diagnoses before the pandemic; however, post-pandemic numbers have doubled. As educators, we were not prepared at the preservice level to teach children who have anxiety and depression. This presentation will focus on giving you insight and interventions.
Before Covid-19 the United States was already in an uptick of anxiety diagnoses. According to the surgeon general in December of 2022, we have seen a 50% increase in anxiety and depression since 2019. Teachers were not prepared at the preservice level with interventions to help address the growing need for anxiety interventions they are needing in today's classrooms. This presentation will share a wealth of information to be used.
